What is a Process Server?

By law the respondent, or alleged guilty party, in any court case or claim has to be advised of the complaint or claim made against them.

This means that "legal process" has to be followed and documents giving details of the claim and proceedings must be "served" on the respondent to make them aware of any allegations against them.

This ensures that the respondent has the opportunity to defend themselves or at the very least that they are aware of the claims against them.

The term "Process Server" refers to an independent and unbiased person, not connected with the case in any way, who is appointed to "serve" the documents on behalf of the court.
